Fishing Derby Cancelled!
Posted 01/25/2017
We apologize for any inconvenience but due to unseasonably warm weather this year causing early thawing on Lake Mazaska, we unfortunately need to cancel our annual Ice Fishing Derby this year after consulting with both the Tri Lakes Sportman’s Club and the sheriff’s department.  We look forward to colder weather and fishing opportunities next year!

Local Boy Scouts make year-long commitment to maintain Rice County Veterans Memorial
Posted 11/04/2016

The task is for Troop 306 to take patrol shifts doing landscaping to the area in front of the memorial at the courthouse. In October, they edged the area, cleaned up the rocks and pulled weeds. The first shift was completed by a section of Troop 306 called Cobra Patrol. The monthly shifts will continue through a year-long commitment Troop 306 made to the Veterans Memorial. The Veterans Memorial Committee has been around since 2007. For years, the members would keep up the site on their own. With their numbers dwindling of late, the committee decided it needed some able-bodied people to help out. “We’ve had a good standing relationship with the veterans in Faribault and Rice County,” said Troop 306 Assistant Scoutmaster Al Shuda. “They’ve asked scouts to participate in all kinds of ceremonies and service. It’s been a long standing relationship.”
